President Maureen Merrill opened the meeting at 7:30 and led us in a flag salute.
We were inspired by Alison Huber who suggested we never doubt that we can change the world.
A song by Songmeister David Ruprecht who can’t buy me love.

Mike Roush introduced our guest Ruben Martinez, Windsor Police Chief.
Sandy Krutz introduced Vittoria, our newest exchange daughter. She shared her adventure into the world of rafting and the opportunity to meet other exchange students.
Bill Bolster shared that he had a good send-off for our outbound students. Bill and Rene Hyde got some love for doing what they do with our exchange students.
Rene Hyde away bar is pushing some funk R&B. The bar event went so well that the Town of Windsor extended the event for an additional week… or two.
Karen Alves, VP of Windsor Education Foundation, is asking members to consider being a participant of their fundraising golf tournament next week, and they have some swing into Vegas event later this year. This is an organization that provides grants to foundations and scholarships for students. President Maureen got to the heart of why they do what they do.
Joe Deacon will be asking for more greeters so we can cover the back door folks.
Diane Brabitz and Larry Wasem were recognized because of their efforts to help kids and that they have become major donors for the Rotary Foundation. They also have 100% Rotary meeting attendance. Larry shared that he asks where the Rotary Club is located prior to traveling off. Diane shared that she usually does more than one Rotary meeting a week with all the events she attends.
Jimmy Gore is a no show… but then again he wasn’t supposed to be here.
Maureen shared that those who bid on the “Day at the quarry” had a great time. Chris Landwehr and Michael Juric are promoting the “Play in the Clay” evening molding Ghost replica statues. They are reminding us that there would be a great opportunity to share appetizers and wine. Get in touch with Michael if you can provide an item to make the night special.
JB Leep shared that he installed solar and in the process of elimination of solar companies he went with Simply Solar. The company’s Sales and Development Director, Ben Goldberg, and his sideman, Dan McMahan (I just added the McMahan, because of his sidekick role and that I didn’t get his real name. The first person to bring this up at the next meeting will get a small donation from me to the John Lewis Foundation.), provided a talk show interview to introduce their company and the world of solar. Dan let us know that the community is big with the local solar company and that they raised over $90K to help families after the fire.
According to Goldberg, there has been a series of solar company failures that have occurred in the past and he suggests you be careful about who you hire because there are numerous suspect installers who have little experience. He also warned that products are of concern. There are two types of panels in the world and they offer select panels. You will need to ask them directly to get a better understanding of the differences. They promote American products.
Batteries aren’t as great as the advertisements that promote them. Get a 10K watt generator to run your whole house, including your A/C.
There are a variety of solar financing options, including credit unions. Look into SCEIP, Sonoma County Energy Investment Program. Ben suggests that you work with a local company rather than a big-box provider. His opinion is that the local company will work more closely to dial in your actual needs.
Federal tax credits are in place through 2019, but the levels of saving are going to be affected after January 2020. Talk with a pro to understand how intricate the program is.
President Maureen closed the meeting in an electrifying manner.
