Announcements:
Pam and Ken Moulton along with Michael Juric gave a very brief glimpse into their trip to Uganda and a banner exchange from Lira and promised a program in the future.
John Hackenberg talked briefly about the visit that was cut short from our Rotary friends from New Zealand. And the fact that they visited our local BurtoNZ bakery to find a schoolmate of one of the visitors! Small World.
Don’t forget your “Flock Insurance” Seems the pink buggers feed on tragedies and will probably be not to far off.
Pop up Art fair may slip a little while everyone adjusts and has time to recalibrate.
President Steve gave the club an overview of the fires from his perspective as a Fire Department Board member who was pressed into service during the event. The fact that a very small fire in the Town of Clearlake took over 100 residences was not prominent in the news due to the staggering totals in our area. He also elaborated on the role of static discharge in the very high winds in spreading the fires. He related the story from a veteran firefighter about a similar fire in 1964 that was similar but had less impact due to size and our population growth since that time. He related several firsthand observations like; seeing cars parked side by side with one destroyed and the other intact and seeing chickens alive and strutting around in a totally burnt out coop.

The need to understand and promote contributions to our Windsor Rotary Community Foundation through our web site or by check And the Multi Club – Multi County effort through the District.
Additional fundraising efforts that include A Celebrity Chef Event and a Concert are in the early stages of planning.

John Hackenberg had the lucky ticket and rolled a lucky number 7 to win the pot. $23 to his pocket $230 to the WRCF.
Speaker Debora Fudge Mayor of Windsor
She gave us a firsthand account of how the events unfolded in the Emergency Operations Center as well as how it was important to get out and engage the town to prevent panic and tamp down rumors. The importance of Facebook and social media was a big impact on this. Early and sustained impact on Comcast are a need that hampered some of that effort and need to addressed for the future.
Housing will be a huge issue and already the town is looking to get shovel ready projects fast tracked and to carefully but rapidly remove pinch points and roadblocks.
Debora also update us on SMART Train and its role in helping evacuations and keeping the roads clear with free travel.
Brandon Krueger Superintendent also briefed us on the schools which will open on Wednesday.
