She spoke of her experiences as an Exchange Student in Germany. This experience has changed her life forever as she had not previously traveled outside of California. As she so eloquently stated, “the girl that got on the plane to travel to Germany was not the same one the returned”. Ariana shared her many experiences with pictures she had taken on her exchange trip. Some of the highlights included: * The three families that hosted Ariana were quite different but allowed her to adjust to a variety of environments and learn many cultural traits of Germany. * The school she attended, Ostendorf Gymnasium, was very different than Windsor High School. The over 900 students included grades 4-12. While learning German was difficult, she was proud of herself for doing it and in the process made many “lifelong friends”.
- * The host Rotary Club was Erwitte Hellweg from District 1900. They provided her with several tours included Germany, western Europe and a skiing adventure.
- * The activities most enjoyed by Ariana was getting to know each host family, horseback riding and involvement in a special dance course. She learned a great deal about the culture and foods of Germany but more about the cultural diversity of the country.
* Adriana’s most passionate moment was her meeting many Syrian refugees and getting to know them as human beings. She discovered more similarities than differences and hopes to be able to tell their story to her friends in America to help them understand. Club of Windsor welcomes you back and is proud of you!
